Switching to the Spring Flag League run by Caps Fieldhouse – Registration Deadline March 10th!

Hi SYFL Families!  Sorry for the late announcement, but because of a myriad of reasons (mostly having to do with competing for field availability with the Caps league in their space), we have decided that it is in the best interest of our program to forgo our own league and join the Caps Fieldhouse Flag League this Spring.

If you have already registered a player, we have moved their registration into the appropriate division.  (Please call, text, or email Scott Shelfer if you would like to make any other arrangements.)

The Caps league runs from March 24th to May 26 on Friday evenings at Caps Fieldhouse.  Please register at www.shakeryouthfootballleague.org under the registration tab.  Please register and pay through the SYFL website, not the Caps website.  SYFL will coordinate the paperwork for Caps and pay Caps Fieldhouse for each team.

Deadline to Register: Friday, March 10th

(Caps has asked us to give them an idea of how many teams we will be entering into the league by March 10th.)

We are planning on holding a combine/ workouts/ tryouts on the evenings of Monday, March 20th and/ or Wednesday, March 22nd.  If your player cannot make the tryout, we will make special arrangements to best place your player.  Please just email sc***@sh***********.com.

It is a 6v6 league, so we should have multiple teams in each division.  Ideally, we will have 7-12 players on each team.  They decided on the following divisions for this Spring:

• K- 2nd Grade
• 3rd- 5th Grade
• 6th- 8th Grade

Shaker coaches will assess the talent and potential of each player and draft the players evenly in order to have teams that are as even and competitive with one another as possible.

So, this means that the combine scheduled for 2/26 and the draft for  3/10 are cancelled in lieu of the new timing.

Please do not let economics be a barrier from participating!  If you are a student in Shaker Schools, you qualify for athletic scholarships through the Level the Playing Field Fund!  It is a private and easy process!  Please go to https://shakerschoolsfoundation.org/level-the-playing-field-landing-page-learn-more/ for more information!
